Town Info

Malakwal town is a Tehsil in District Mandi Bahauddin of Pakistan. It is located around 225 Kilometer south east of Capital city Islamabad and around 35 Kilometer away from its district headquarter Mandi Bahauddin. It has moderate climate, which is hot in summer and cold in winter. During peak summer the day temperature rises to 45ºC , but the winter months are very pleasant. Only in the months of December and January the temperature goes down.

This town is very famous because of its Railway Junction. Up to year 2001 a lot of locomotive fans, from all over the world, used to visit Malakwal. Because Malakwal was the home of last SPS and SGS class locomotives in Indo Pak subcontinent.

Its population is around 50,000. Peoples of this area are really very hardworking. In tehsil Malakwal the land is very fertile and people's major source of income is farming. In this area wheat, rice and sugar cane are the major crops.

In this town There are only two government high schools for boys and only one government high school for girls and same is the ratio for Primary and Middle Schools. These schools  are really not sufficient to accommodate all the students of this area. Because of this all the government schools are over crowded and students are unable to get the quality education. Actually these schools were opened several decades ago and now this Tehsil has almost tripled its population. But the numbers of schools are same. This town really needs some good new government schools so that a common person can send his kids to school.
